The Villages Genealogical Society

German Genealogy SIG

General Information

Coordinators:
Steven Buhrow & Dianne Feddersen

Hello, my name is Dianne Feddersen and, along with Steven Buhrow, we are the coordinators of the German Genealogy Special Interest Group. We meet the second Thursday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. If you have any questions about this SIG, send an email to me or Steven and we will respond as quickly as we can.

Our goal is to carry forward the educational mission of The VGS in the realm of German language genealogy, which includes not only the countries of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, but also areas of Eastern Europe with large German ethnic populations. There are several SIG members well versed in many areas of Germanic research both in the U.S. and Europe who will endeavor to assist other members in solving their research issues.

You must be a member of The Villages Genealogical Society (VGS) to participate in our meetings. We welcome guests to attend once without charge, but if interested in continuing, we ask that you join VGS for the budget-breaking amount of $10.00. Membership information can be found HERE.

Meetings: Currently, we are holding hybrid meetings; you can attend in-person at the Lake Miona Recreation Center, or attend on the Zoom platform (the Zoom link is emailed to members on our list). For the most up-to-date information on our meetings check the VGS Coming Events section of the website.
